Letterboxing milestone reached!

From: Silent Doug (silentdoug@letterboxing.info) | Date: 2004-07-30 15:54:02 UTC-04:00
At about 3:52 pm ET today, the letterboxing.org web site reached 10,000
letterboxes in its database. (#10,000 was "On the Way Gnome" in NY, if
you're interested.)

Just to give you some perspective, in November 2002 there were 2,500
letterboxes on the site.

Keep planting those boxes!

Doug

So, in other words, Wanda has handled more than 50% of all the
letterboxes in existence! I'm not sure which statistic is more
impressive, the 5K or the 10K!

And maybe by the time we reach 20,000, which will be a year or two at
this rate, we can figure out those pesky algorithms to the anti-gravity
letterboxes. Not to mention all those boxes hanging out in the 4th
dimension! Now, how crafty are those clues!

Well, in theory you are corrent about 50%. In practice that number is
off. Keep in mind that the letterboxing.org site has no way to tally
all the unpublished (aka word of mouth, etc) boxes in existence.
Give 2 or 3 experienced boxers about 5 minutes to look at their logs
and I'd bet the list of local south eastern Connecticut unpublished
boxes likely flirts with 100. Thats just ones that we know of! Add
in the ledgerdemaine lore and the idea of bonus boxes and your 10,000
creeps up fast.

Hoever, even if its 48% or 50% though, Wanda's accomplishments are
indeed noteworthy and significant; for that we definately give her a
pat on the back! [ and maybe some new hiking boots! ]

I've only listed 2 or 3 on the site myself, and now that I've finally placed over 100 -
you can certainly add that to the extra unpublished as well. Why does "L" get all the
credit?! ;-) I'd say Jay's P and F-ness is quite balanced in my opinion. Nice Job!
